What happens
Robert Shannon, a young Irish boy, is sent to live with his grandfather, Mr. Lucky, in the Welsh town of Latham after his mother's death. Robert, played by Dean Stockwell, struggles to fit into the household of his stern relatives, who view him as a wild and irresponsible outsider. His Uncle Madoc and grandfather argue over his future, and his schooling at the local academy becomes a point of contention. Robert tries to find his place among the family and the town, and the story follows his early efforts to adjust. The Lux Radio Theatre production of The Green Years aired on January 13, 1947, with Carl Esmond and Beverly Tyler among its leads.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
