What happens

Casanova Brown, a professor of literature, plans to marry Madge Ferris, but a letter from a Chicago maternity hospital suggests he may be the father of a three-week-old baby. His friend J.J. White, a sceptical family man, questions him as the wedding approaches. Casanova recalls his past courtship of Isabel, a New York college student, and their hasty marriage at a roadside justice of the peace, which he says ended quickly. Lux Radio Theatre presented this adaptation of the film Casanova Brown on December 11, 1944, with Gary Cooper, Thomas Mitchell and Joan Bennett in the leading roles. The story is told as the characters confront the letter and what it might mean.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
