What happens
Webb Carey, a former OSS officer, returns to a village on an Italian lake to find the man who betrayed his wartime comrades and sold a stolen Bellini painting. Julia, the girl he once loved, is alive and married to Baron de Grisci, and the village remembers Webb's wartime role with bitterness. When Luigi, a local man who had come to see Webb, is found dead with an OSS knife, Webb must question the villagers and the Palazzo household. This episode of Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on February 2, 1953, stars Charlton Heston and Wanda Hendrix. The recording breaks off in the middle of the story.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
