What happens

Dan Brooks, a racetrack man who married into the Higgins family, quits his job at the Higgins Paperbox Company to race his horse, Broadway Bill, at the Imperial track. His wife Margaret remains in Higginsville under the authority of her father, J.L. Higgins, and Dan's loyal friend Alice presses him to stay true to his dreams. Robert Taylor and Francis Dee star in this 1939 Lux Radio Theatre production, with Gayle Patrick and Raymond Walburn in supporting roles, and Cecil B. DeMille presenting. The story follows Dan's struggle to keep his horse racing while his marriage and his finances are strained, as the rift with his in-laws grows and his fortunes at the track fluctuate.

Higginsville, a small town dominated by the Higgins family's businesses, and the Imperial racetrack.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
