What happens

Charlie Davis, a young amateur boxer from Greenwich Village, is drawn into the professional ring when he meets Peg, an art student who paints and sketches him. His mother runs a struggling candy store, and money is scarce. Charlie seeks a manager, Mr. Quinn, and a deal that will pay, while Peg, who cares for him, watches his ambitions take shape. This Lux Radio Theatre production, first broadcast on November 15, 1948, stars John Garfield and Jane Wyman, with Marie Windsor as Alice.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
