What happens

Luke Drake and his wife Jane, a celebrated playwright and actress, close their hit Broadway play Catherine the Great and announce their retirement from the theatre. Jane's farewell speech is delivered without Luke, who has vanished. Friends and staff search for him as the couple's plans for a quiet life and a family are revealed. Lux Radio Theatre presents Bedtime Story, starring Donna Michie and Loretta Young, with Truman Bradley in a supporting role. The broadcast is this episode's first half, and the story continues into a later act with Luke, Jane, their associates and a new production taking shape.

Listen for: Luke's sudden disappearance on the night of Jane's farewell speech and the explosive argument that follows

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
