What happens
Martin Arrowsmith, a young doctor, works in a small Midwestern town and then accepts a research post at the McGurk Institute in New York, leaving behind his wife Leora. At the Institute he pursues a laboratory investigation into bacteria that appear to kill other germs, while his work and his marriage come under strain. The Lux Radio Theatre production stars Spencer Tracy as Arrowsmith and Fay Ray as Leora. This adaptation is drawn from Sinclair Lewis's novel Arrowsmith, which won the Pulitzer Prize, and the broadcast aired on October 25, 1937.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
