What happens
Jan Ashe, the daughter of the gambling-prone Steven Ashe, falls in love with the gambler Ace Wilfong, and her father and aunt object to the match in this Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the play A Free Soul. Presented from Hollywood on November 1, 1937, the broadcast stars Ginger Rogers as Jan, Donald Meek's cast partner Donald Dunham as Ace Wilfong, and Charles Winninger as Steven Ashe, with Cecil B. DeMille as host. Jan defends her right to choose her own company and her own life against family pressure. The transcript covers only the first part of the play, so the later course of the story is not described here.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
