What happens

Anna Christie arrives in New York to meet her estranged father, Chris Christopherson, a barge captain she has not seen in fifteen years. Chris has raised her on a farm in Minnesota, and she has since lived a hard life in St. Paul. Aboard the coal barge, Anna falls in love with Matt Burke, a sailor she met in a waterfront saloon, while her father grows wary of the match. This is the Lux Radio Theatre's adaptation of Eugene O'Neill's play, broadcast on February 7, 1938, starring Joan Crawford and Spencer Tracy, with George Marion Sr. and Marjorie Rambo.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
