What happens
Rocky Sullivan, a gangster just released from prison, returns to his old New York slum neighborhood and renews his friendship with Father Jerry Connolly, a priest who runs a youth center there. Rocky takes a room in the building run by Laurie Martin and begins pressing former partner Jim Frazier for his share of money from an old job. Frazier's crooked dealings with the local power broker Mac Kiefer put them all at odds. This Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the Warner Brothers film stars James Cagney and Pat O'Brien with Gloria Dixon. The broadcast aired on May 22, 1939. Rocky and Jerry are old friends whose paths have taken very different turns.
A dead-end street in the slums of a large American city, including a church and youth center, a rooming house, and Frazier's nightclub.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
