What happens

In the South American port of Baranca, Jeff Carter and Joe Souder are pilots flying mail runs over a dangerous mountain pass. They meet Bonnie Lee, an American woman stranded in town, and invite her to dinner at the local hotel. When Joe is assigned to fly the mail through deteriorating fog, the flight leads to tragedy. Cary Grant, Jean Arthur, Thomas Mitchell and Richard Barthelmess star in this Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the 1939 film Only Angels Have Wings, first broadcast on May 29, 1939. The story follows the tension between the flyers and the newcomer Bonnie as they struggle to keep the airline running.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
