What happens
Emily Blair, a wealthy heiress from Blairstown, Massachusetts, has lost her hearing after meningitis and is told by a Chicago specialist that nothing can be done. Back home, she is engaged to Jeff Stokes, but she hesitates to marry him. Dr. Merrick Vance, a physician who grew up on the wrong side of the river from her family's mill, offers an experimental treatment in a makeshift laboratory set up by her family's friend, Dr. Weeks. Emily agrees to the injections, and the two begin to spend time together. The Lux Radio Theatre production of And Now Tomorrow, from Rachel Field's novel, was broadcast on May 21, 1945, starring Alan Ladd and Loretta Young.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
