What happens
Jeff and Nancy Troy move into a basement apartment at 50 Gay Street in New York's Greenwich Village, where Jeff plans to research atmosphere for his next novel. The building's odd caretaker, Mr. Turner, and his nervous housekeeper, Mrs. Solder, make the place feel strange from the start. An old acquaintance of Nancy's seems shaken by their new home, and a threatening phone call overheard in a neighborhood bar links the building to a man who wants to meet someone there. The Troys soon discover that the apartment has a history of its own. This is the Lux Radio Theatre production of A Night to Remember, first broadcast April 19, 1943, starring Robert Young and Anne Southern.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
