What happens
Lum Edwards dons the suit of his absent friend Dogenes Huckabee, and his new habits unsettle the folks of Pine Ridge. While Lum struts about in the borrowed clothes, Abner Peabody and young Cedric Hutchins are left to deal with his odd behavior and his demands. When Cedric places a mail order and shows a surprising amount of money, Abner grows suspicious of where it came from. Lum then summons his air raid warden uniform in a hurry, and townsfolk gather in the street to see what has alarmed him. The story is part of the Lum and Abner radio series, first broadcast on March 9, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
