What happens

Lum and Abner, the storekeepers of Pine Ridge, now have to decide how to spend the $10,000 that Dodge Nees left the town after the counterfeiting case and the store mortgage were settled. Lum proposes a paved road through town, while Abner favors something educational or cultural and gets caught up in the idea of an elevator and an art museum. They decide to ask a cross-section of townspeople for ideas, starting with Cedric, whose suggestions are ones of his own. The episode is from the Lum and Abner series, first broadcast on April 2, 1942, with leads Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
