What happens

Lum and Abner's store and their Pine Ridge community are the setting, and the friends are reading aloud from a children's storybook about Pinky Winky, a cotton-tail rabbit who wants to become a gold-colored fish so he can swim underwater. Pinky Winky tries to swim and fails, then boasts to Mr. Owl that he will find a way. Meanwhile, the crafty Mr. Freddy Fox plots to catch him. Abner interrupts the reading and takes the book away, but Cedric and Lum keep discussing how the story might end. The recording stops before the rabbit's fate is settled.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
