What happens

Lum and Abner, a pair of small-town friends, are worried about the tax assessment on their rabbits after Lum earlier put a high value on them to Squire Skimp. Lum learns that Skimp has just been appointed deputy tax assessor, and the two set out to get the assessment lowered. Abner tries to help by arguing over the figures and the proper way to value the animals. The story is told in the broad, rambling style of the series. The 1941 NBC, Mutual, CBS and ABC broadcast starred Chester Lauck and Norris Goff, with Lurene Tuttle also in the cast.

A small town, including the John Brown store and the barbershop, where the rabbit tax assessment is discussed.

Characters: Lum, Abner, Squire Skimp, Cedric

Listen for: Lum and Abner arguing with Squire Skimp over the value placed on the rabbits.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
