What happens
Lum and Abner, the proprietors of the Jot-Em-Down store in Pine Ridge, are trying to recover a lion that has been reported roaming the district after escaping its capture. Lum believes the lion is still hanging around town, and Abner proposes organizing a safari to track it down. The pair read about big game hunting in a book about Sir Alexis Littleton, and Lum begins planning a costume of short pants and a pith helmet, partly to impress Miss Fredericks. Abner offers increasingly odd suggestions for making Lum look younger, while both men argue over the hunt's purpose. The episode is a comedy from the Lum and Abner radio series, first broadcast on November 25, 1941, with Chester Lauck and Norris Goff in the lead roles and Lurene Tuttle appearing as Miss Fredericks.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
