What happens

Lum Edwards has skipped his bail and gone missing after failing to appear for his counterfeiting trial, and the town of Pine Ridge is in an uproar. Abner Peabody, who put up his store and mortgaged his home to secure Lum's bail, fears he will lose everything. Lum's father, Lum's wife and the townsfolk worry over his disappearance, and Mr. Fremont, the officer of the court, presses Abner for information about where Lum is hiding. Abner stays tight-lipped about his partner, and the pressure on him steadily grows. This episode of the Lum and Abner radio series first aired on March 26, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
