What happens
Lum Edwards and Abner Peabody are worried after Abner signs a blotter instead of a $1,200 check meant to buy lumber for the Wonderful World Apartments. A stranger, Jay Wadsworth Tiffin, arrives in Pine Ridge claiming to represent a Chicago building corporation and offers Lum $50,000 for his prefabrication method. Tiffin hears Lum's scheme for building apartments from the $10,000 bequest and passing old houses along, and he is unconvinced by the arithmetic. The episode is part of the long-running radio comedy Lum and Abner, first broadcast on May 4, 1942, with Chester Lauck, Norris Goff and Lurene Tuttle in the leading roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
