What happens

Luigi Vasco, a newly arrived Italian immigrant in Chicago, is captivated by the arrival of spring and the change in the city's mood after a long, cold winter. Hoping to recapture the springtime walks of his youth in Castellammare, he decides he simply wants to wander the streets alone for a day. His friends and neighbors, including Pascuali and Rosa, react with worry and affection, and the episode tells of Luigi's efforts to slip out and walk freely. This is an episode of the comedy series Life with Luigi, which first aired on March 20, 1951, with J. Carrol Naish in the title role.

Listen for: Luigi's letter to his mama in Italy and his friends' reactions as he sets out for a long walk.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
