What happens
Luigi Basko, a newcomer to America, is pressed by his mother back in Italy to marry Rosa, the daughter of his neighbour Pasquale. Luigi resists, but a photograph of Rosa convinces his mother that she would make a fine bride, and the family insists. His friend Schultz suggests a plan to get a clearer picture of Rosa, and Luigi and Pasquale's household become tangled in the scheme. This is an episode of the comedy series Life with Luigi, broadcast in 1950, starring J. Carrol Naish as Luigi and Alan Reed as Pasquale.
A neighbourhood in America where Luigi lives, with his friends, Pasquale's household, and a park with a rowboat and hot dog stand.
Characters: Luigi Basko, Rosa, Pasquale, Schultz, Mr. Schultz's friend, Luigi's mother
Listen for: Luigi reading his mother's letters aloud, and the plan to photograph Rosa.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
