What happens
Luigi Basso, a young Italian immigrant in Chicago, writes to his mother in Italy about his dating life. His landlord and Rosa's father, Pasquale, pushes him to take Rosa, his daughter, out. Pasquale threatens to raise Luigi's rent unless he dates her, so Luigi reluctantly takes Rosa to the movies. Pasquale's pressure and the awkward evening make up the story. The series is Life with Luigi, a comedy from 1952, starring J. Carroll Naish as Luigi and Alan Reed as Pasquale.
Chicago, in the early 1950s, including Pasquale's apartment, a spaghetti restaurant, a night school class, and a movie theater.

Listen for: Pasquale's escalating demands on Luigi and Luigi's reluctant date with Rosa at the movies.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
