What happens

Luigi Basko, a shopkeeper in his neighborhood, pledges fifty dollars to the Boys Club for gymnasium equipment after his friend Pasquale makes a boast on his behalf. Luigi has no such money and struggles to raise it, first by trying a finance company and then by borrowing from friends. Desperate, he takes on a paid bout at a carnival, where he is pushed into a ring with a fearsome fighter. Luigi tells the story in letters to his mama in Italy, and his good intentions keep getting him into trouble.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
