What happens

Chester A. Riley is annoyed that his daughter Babs is dating Simon Vanderhopper, an aspiring artist whom he distrusts. Riley's wife Peg asks Simon to help choose a small statue for the piano, and Riley insists on buying something artistic himself to prove his own taste. The statue he brings home is a large, garish figure of Venus with lights in her head and a radio in her stomach, and the family is appalled. Babs and Junior discuss how to get rid of it, while Riley is determined to keep his purchase.

The Riley family home, and a neighborhood art shop in the city.

Characters: Chester A. Riley, Peg Riley, Babs Riley, Junior Riley, Simon Vanderhopper

Listen for: Riley's determination to prove his taste to his wife, and the family's reaction to the oversized Venus statue.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
