What happens
Chester A. Riley is invited out to dinner with his wife Peggy by the Murdochs, friends from his Brooklyn youth. Riley's past resurfaces: years earlier he worked at Mr. Gomer Boomer's dry goods store and courted Tillie Boomer, the owner's daughter, while also seeing a sweetheart named Peggy. The Life of Riley is a radio comedy series, and this episode aired on January 26, 1951 on the Blue Network/ABC and NBC, with William Bendix as Riley. Riley's romantic entanglements and mounting debts from the cash register set the story in motion.
Brooklyn, New York, in the years before Riley's marriage, and later in the city during the present day

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
