What happens

Chester A. Riley is a father who grows protective when his teenage daughter Babs is excited about joining a sorority. Her mother Peg tries to keep the peace while Babs is hurt when Helene Bidwell blackballs her. Riley goes to confront Helene's father, Farrington K. Bidwell, a banker, and the two men clash over money and status. Riley's frustration with his own life spills out in a heartfelt moment with his family. The story pivots as Riley heads off to speak his mind to the girls directly.

The Riley home and neighborhood, the Bidwell residence, and a sorority gathering in a middle-class American town around 1951.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
