What happens
Chester A. Riley argues with his wife Peg about money, and his son Junior is caught trying to spend a stash of savings on a football. Riley insists that the spare room is reserved for his parents, who live in Brooklyn. Miss Morgan of the Surprise Party program visits the house and proposes flying Riley's parents to Los Angeles for their golden wedding anniversary, but the couple must keep the plan secret from Riley. Peg accepts the offer, and the Riley household prepares for a reunion that Riley does not yet know is being arranged.
