What happens

Chester Riley learns from a magazine quiz that his wife Peg may want more romance in the spring, and he sets out to become the perfect husband. His attempts go badly, from a clumsy mud-pack mishap to an embarrassing scene in the park that ends with a policeman's intervention. Advice from his neighbor Gillis and the undertaker Digger Odell pushes him in different directions. The episode is part of The Life of Riley, first broadcast on April 24, 1948, on the Blue Network and ABC and NBC, with William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peg.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
