What happens
Chester A. Riley entertains Herman, a young dinner guest who is about to marry Susie, and offers him unsolicited advice on weddings. Riley recalls his own courtship of Peggy, years earlier, when he landed a busboy job at the Sportsman's Lodge and finally proposed. Peggy's father, Sidney Monahan's rival, and an unexpected plan complicate matters as the couple tries to win the family's approval. The story is told in the present tense as Riley's wife Peggy listens and corrects him along the way. The Life of Riley was broadcast on the Blue Network and NBC; this episode aired on March 18, 1949, with William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peggy.
The Riley home, and flashbacks to Brooklyn, a restaurant and a church wedding.

Listen for: Riley's recollection of the courtship and the wedding plan with Sidney Monahan.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
