What happens

Chester A. Riley is an eighteen-year married man whose quiet evenings at home are interrupted by a letter from Bertha Ferguson, a woman he knew in Brooklyn years ago. The letter suggests a reunion at a Los Angeles hotel, and Riley's friend Gillis reads it into the worst possible meaning. Riley's wife Peg hears the news and makes clear how she feels about rivals. Riley worries about being caught between the two women and begins to panic. William Bendix stars in The Life of Riley, a series first heard on the Blue Network and NBC, and this installment originally aired on January 21, 1949.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
