What happens
Chester A. Riley and his children celebrate Peg Riley's Mother's Day with breakfast in bed and gifts, and Peg recalls a Mother's Day from years earlier. Riley loses his milk route job and tells his wife he is a failure, and he resolves to find work. When Peg says she will not let him take a job from Sidney Monahan, Riley decides to look after their baby daughter himself while he searches for employment. The story is part of the long-running radio comedy The Life of Riley, which aired on May 8, 1948 on the Blue Network/ABC and NBC, with William Bendix in the title role and Paula Winslowe as Peg.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
