What happens

Chester Riley, a Los Angeles factory worker taking adult night school algebra, receives an anonymous love note in his son Junior's lunchbox and must find out who wrote it before she arrives at his house for a picnic. The Life of Riley aired on December 10, 1944, on the Blue Network and NBC, with William Bendix in the title role, joined by Paula Winslowe, Hans Conried and Alan Reed. Riley enlists his friend Waldo Benny to help him, and together they visit several suspects. Riley's wife Peg, meanwhile, has her own opinions about the situation and the note's author.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
