What happens

Chester A. Riley becomes convinced that his 13-year-old son Junior has shoplifted a jackknife from Bramble's department store after finding it hidden in the boy's room. Junior refuses to explain where he got it, and Riley's worry turns into anger as he confronts his son. Riley's friend Waldo Benny urges him to return the knife quietly, and Riley attempts this at the store, only to be spotted by the store detective. Meanwhile, Riley's neighbor Digby Odell offers opinions on the boy's troubles, and Riley's anxieties about juvenile behavior grow. The episode is part of the long-running radio comedy The Life of Riley, first broadcast on April 13, 1946, with William Bendix in the lead role.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
