What happens
Chester Riley, a proud and blustering father, sets out to discipline his son Junior after the boy tears up his mother's sheet to make bandages. Riley cannot bring himself to go through with the punishment, so he only pretends to spank Junior while the boy yells on cue. Two lodge brothers overhear the screams and conclude that Riley has beaten his son, and the lodge calls an emergency meeting to decide his fate. Riley must now convince his fellow members, and his wife Peg, that he is not the cruel father they believe him to be.
