What happens
Chester Riley faces New Year's Eve with reluctance, preferring a quiet night at home over the party the Morrises have invited the family to. His daughter Babs is anxious about getting a date for the sorority dance she must attend as committee chairman. Her attempts to win over a suitor named Bob Wilson go badly when Riley's clumsy interference drives both young men away. Riley, his wife Peg and their son Junior are pulled into the evening's mounting confusion. The episode is part of the Life of Riley radio series, first broadcast on December 30, 1949, starring William Bendix as Riley.
The Riley home and the surrounding neighborhood on New Year's Eve, with the family preparing for evening engagements.
Characters: Chester A. Riley, Peg Riley, Babs Riley, Junior Riley, Bob Wilson, Monroe Mayberry, Digger O'Dell, Hobart Morris
Listen for: Riley's attempts to help Babs find a date, and the escalating mix-ups when Bob Wilson and Monroe Mayberry visit the house.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
