What happens
Chester A. Riley, played by William Bendix, is a factory worker whose thirteen-year-old son Junior has suddenly idolised basketball star Hank Luzetti instead of his father. Hurt by the switch, Riley tells Junior a fib about being a champion basketball player, and the boy is delighted. The story turns on Riley's new claim when Junior announces that his father has been named coach of the school basketball team. The Life of Riley aired on the Blue Network and NBC in 1949, and this episode first aired on 7 January 1949. Paula Winslowe and Alan Reed also appear in the cast.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
