What happens
Chester Riley, a Brooklyn man, is out of work and dreams of a political career while his family argues about the coming election. Riley takes a job with Alderman Kennedy's campaign after his uncle Charlie arranges it. Riley's courtship of Peggy, the daughter of the rival candidate Mr. Barker, complicates his new position. Riley's enthusiasm for politics leads him into trouble with both the Barkers and his own employers. The Life of Riley is a radio comedy starring William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peggy, and this episode first aired on October 22, 1948.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
