What happens
Riley, a loud and self-important family man, leaves a movie theatre convinced he resembles James Mason, and his wife Peg tires of his romantic posturing. Riley's neighbour Hobart Morris and Morris's wife Adele join them for sodas, and Riley's teasing begins to unsettle the Morris household. Riley is also trying to sell Morris his old car, and his son Junior is roped into writing a love letter to Marilyn Morris. The Life of Riley, a comedy on the Blue Network and ABC and NBC, first aired on December 17, 1948, with William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe in the cast.

Listen for: Riley's comic insistence that he looks like James Mason, and the escalating mix-up over the love letter and the car sale
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
