What happens
Chester A. Riley and his wife Peg spend a Saturday afternoon in the park, where they find the benches being removed because Joe Barton, running unopposed for Park Supervisor, plans to build a brewery there. Riley persuades friends to nominate an independent candidate, and they choose Peg. Her campaign posters appear across town, and a rival faction soon nominates Riley himself to split the vote. Peg and Riley become rival candidates, and their marriage is strained as the election approaches. The series The Life of Riley aired on the Blue Network/ABC and NBC, and this episode first aired on 1946-11-02, with William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peg.
A park and the Riley household in a city district, during a Saturday and the days leading up to a Park Supervisor election.
Characters: Chester A. Riley, Peg Riley, Junior, Joe Barton, Mike Edwards, Jack, Dick Beaudel
Listen for: The moment Riley is nominated against his own wife, and the election-night returns.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
