What happens

Chester A. Riley tries to help his daughter Babs find a date for New Year's Eve, after his interference has driven off a young man who was about to ask her out. Riley's plan to arrange dates backfires as several young men arrive at the Riley home at once, all believing they are escorting Babs. William Bendix plays Riley in this episode of The Life of Riley, which aired on December 28, 1946 on the Blue Network and NBC, with Paula Winslowe as Mrs. Riley. The household is thrown into confusion as the young men and Riley's friends try to sort out the mix-up.

Characters: Chester A. Riley, Mrs. Riley, Babs, Ted Lambert, Junior, Mule, Digger Bewdell, Benny

Listen for: Riley's increasingly desperate attempts to arrange a date for Babs, and the comic confusion as several young men arrive at the house on the same evening

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
