What happens
Chester A. Riley, played by William Bendix, is a factory worker who spends his weekly poker nights trying to escape home life with his wife Peg and their children. When his friends begin to tease him about his household chores, Riley decides to prove that his wife is happy doing housework. The Life of Riley aired on September 10, 1948, on the Blue Network and ABC, with Paula Winslowe as Peg. Riley's friend Gillis and the other card players hold him to their own ideas about marriage, and the episode turns on how Riley tries to win back his place at the table.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
