What happens

Chester A. Riley, Peg Riley and their son Junior are the central family in this episode of The Life of Riley, a Blue Network and NBC radio comedy starring William Bendix, Paula Winslowe, Hans Conried and Alan Reed, first broadcast on 1949-11-04. After a disastrous Halloween party, Riley's friend Margie Friedman asks the Rileys to look after her baby, but the arrangement is kept quiet. When a rumour spreads that Peg is expecting, Riley finds himself caught up in a series of mix-ups involving neighbours, a diaper service salesman and his boss, Mr. Stevenson. The confusion grows as each person repeats the news.

Listen for: Riley's panicked attempts to keep the secret, and the escalating rumour about Peg's supposed pregnancy

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
