What happens

Chester Riley plans his daughter Babs's sixteenth birthday party, but his wish to be at the celebration clashes with Peg, who insists he and she go out to the movies. Riley sneaks back to the party, where his attempts to liven things up backfire, and the teenage guests begin to leave. Digger O'Dell arrives and Riley turns to a treasure hunt to keep them there. Part of the story is written here from the first half of the episode only. This is The Life of Riley, broadcast on February 28, 1948, starring William Bendix as Riley and Paula Winslowe as Peg.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
