What happens
Chester Riley, a riveter, is delighted when he is appointed songwriter for his lodge, the BPLA, and writes a tune called Give the Boys Your Great Big Hand with his daughter Babs. Babs is set to win a music scholarship, and her mother Peg is thrilled. Riley is then invited to play his composition at a musical hosted by Mrs. Worthington, a wealthy society lady who has praised him as a genius. Riley plans to perform with his lodge brothers, hoping to help Babs secure the scholarship. Riley is played by William Bendix.
Riley's home in Southern California, and later a society musical event
Characters: Chester Riley, Babs, Peg, Junior, Mrs. Worthington, Digger, Gillis, Ike
Listen for: Riley's song and the preparations for the musical performance
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
