What happens
George Valentine is called to the small town of Melody by Abner, who's locked in the sheriff's office after a jail fire. A prisoner died in the fire under mysterious circumstances, and Abner fears he'll be killed if he reveals what he knows. George investigates the dead man's identity and the circumstances surrounding his death, suspecting foul play by the corrupt police chief McNabb.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
