What happens

Dr. Norman Penford receives an anonymous death threat predicting his murder on Tuesday night by shooting. He hires private investigator George Valentine to prevent it. Valentine discovers the doctor has a complicated past: a first wife Jane from whom he's divorced and still paying alimony, and a son Wesley from that marriage who wants nothing to do with him, while his current son Eric seems unaware of his half-brother's existence.

A city with Dr. Penford's home and office in a brownstone house; the story begins when Valentine is hired to protect the doctor from the threatened murder.

Characters: George Valentine, Claire Brooks, Dr. Norman Penford, Eric Penford, Jane Penford, Wesley Penford, Lieutenant Riley

Listen for: The mystery of who wrote the death threat and why, the revelation of Dr. Penford's hidden past and estranged son, and what Valentine and the police discover through surveillance of the doctor's activities.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
