What happens
George Valentine takes on a case for Ralph Lochner, a young man about to be admitted to the bar who has discovered that the evidence against his adoptive father's biological father—convicted years ago for murdering a woman named Lillian Wayne—was largely circumstantial. Ralph believes his father may be innocent and asks George to help reopen the case, despite the risk that his secret parentage could become public and ruin his engagement to a society girl.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
