What happens

George Valentine is hired by famous entertainer Walter Haney to spend a weekend at a resort hotel in Los Rositas, California. Haney's real assignment is for George to purchase a valuable Renaissance vase from an art dealer named Durgson for $15,000, which Haney believes is the mate to another masterpiece worth $100,000 that a wealthy cattleman named Hank McCraery owns and will buy from him. The catch is that Haney owes a gambling syndicate over $100,000 and is forbidden from gambling himself, so he needs George to make the risky art deal on his behalf.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
