What happens
George Valentine, a private investigator who solves problems for hire, receives an urgent letter from a woman claiming someone is trying to murder her. The letter was accidentally discovered during George's radio show when he reads the contents of a woman's purse as part of a on-air game. When George tries to locate the woman who wrote the letter to help her, he discovers she has been found dead in an alley in the commercial district, shot that very morning.
George Valentine's office and the city streets; a radio studio where George hosts an audience participation program.
Characters: George Valentine, Lieutenant Riley, Birdie, Mrs. Oscar Peterman, Sister-in-law
Listen for: The clever premise of how George discovers the threatening letter through a radio show game, and the investigation into Mrs. Peterman's mysterious murder.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
